A New Chapter Begins
Foundation and Growth of the Higher Secondary Section at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Lichubari, Jorhat
On March 8, 2023, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Lichubari, Jorhat, celebrated a landmark occasion with the foundation stone laying ceremony for its Higher Secondary building. The event was honoured by the presence of Mr. Hitendra Nath Goswami, Honourable MLA of the Jorhat Constituency; Rev. Dr. Albert Hemrom, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Dibrugarh; and Dr. Subbalakshmi Raj Kumari, Inspector of Schools for Jorhat District. Members of the School Managing Committee, well-wishers, teachers, parents, and students also participated in this memorable event.
Following the ceremony, the school undertook the necessary official procedures to initiate the Higher Secondary Arts stream, receiving enthusiastic support from parents and guardians. In December 2022, after sustained efforts, the school underwent a formal inspection by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council. The inspection team, led by Mr. Kamal Gogoi, retired Principal of Dhemaji College, was warmly received by the school community. Mr. Gogoi expressed his approval of the school’s facilities and endorsed its readiness to launch the Higher Secondary section.
Simultaneously, the recruitment process for qualified subject teachers in the Arts stream was initiated. A key contributor during this phase was Associate Professor Dorothy Momin, Department of English, DCB College, Jorhat, who provided valuable support and guidance throughout the selection process.
The Higher Secondary section was officially inaugurated in April-May 2023, beginning with an initial batch of just three students. In a proud moment for the school, Mr. Hitendra Nath Goswami inaugurated both the newly constructed Higher Secondary building and the science laboratory, while Bishop Dr. Albert Hemrom bestowed blessings upon the new premises.
This expansion marked the dawn of a new era in the school’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. Continuing this journey, the Science stream was introduced in April 2025, further broadening the educational opportunities available to students.
The launch and growth of the Higher Secondary section at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School reflect a steadfast dedication to serving the educational aspirations of the community and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.
